Durham NC Art Deco Vintage Wedding Inspiration Shoot
My two favorite things to do in the world are to make things beautiful and to make people happy. Today, I share photos of something we made beautiful, which will hopefully make you happy! A few months ago, we teamed up with some of this area's best-of-the-best vendors to style a wedding inspiration photo shoot. All of us couldn't help but have the feeling of "Okay! What's next? Where do we need to be?" throughout the day. But the thing about photo shoots is that there's no bridal party to round up for announcements, no flower girl to send down the aisle, and no over-indulging groomsman to pep talk for his toast. Rearrange that centerpiece five times? Don't mind if I do. There is no timeline, and it is glorious! Anyway, just a little glimpse into our world behind-the-scenes. We had a super lot of fun doing this shoot. Enjoy!
1920s style abounded in Bridal Market, and we couldn't get the inspiration out of our heads. We thought of the idea for this photo shoot after seeing so many Art Deco influenced gowns. In particular, Jenny Packham gowns caught our eye, and we featured one in the shoot. This took place at the historic King's Daughters Inn in Durham, NC which was built in the 1920s. It was the perfect venue for our Art Deco inspired shoot! Our attempt was to create a vintage 1920s feel while still portraying modern design that today's brides could relate to. There is so much vintage-rustic style in weddings lately, so we thought we would take on vintage-glam instead.

This turquoise velvet ribbon was delicious!
A luxe dinner table!
Calla lilies, deep pink and lavender roses, and peacock feathers gave the perfect lush yet sleek shape to the floral arrangements.
I call this pose "laugh and touch your necklace."

We were super nervous about this, but accomplished it beautifully. It's actually as easy as it looks.
A letterpress version of an actual sign built in the Durham in the early 1900s. Bull City!
I love the crystal details in this shot: broche on the bouquet, hair jewels, and the back of this glam dress.
The Moss Room at the King's Daughters Inn. Fun fact: that ridiculously gorgeous headboard was once part of a sign over the entrance of a fine lingerie shop in Durham. Ooh la la!
